Solidarieta’ e Servizio (SoliS) is an Italian NGO which has been operating since 1989. In 2003 he became ONLUS (Non-Profit Social Utility Organization) and in 2007 it has been recognized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a non-governmental organization for the realization of projects in developing countries around the world.
Mission and primary objectives:
-Acting as an active subject for the development of a social functions and human and civil growth, through the ideals of solidarity, human and professional advancement, sharing, reciprocity and non-violence.
-Supporting the defence of fundamental human rights and the abolition of all forms of discrimination, through the adoption of values such as: friendship, mutual help and sharing, with particular reference to the most vulnerable people.
-Promoting courses and interventions to enhance people and to strengthen their resources, aimed at strengthening of ethical behaviour and the common good.
-Promoting paths active participation of citizens in society, regardless of their "condition", with particular attention to new generations.
Thanks to the support and skills of operators, consultants and volunteers who work both in Italy and abroad, SoliS realizes socio-rehabilitative and socio-educational programs for people with mental health conditions and disabilities, adolescents and elderly, both in health care and social structures, as part of local services, in collaboration with cooperatives, trade associations and public and private services.
SoliS is engaging in providing volunteers and social operators, training tools necessary to carry out a right service, suitable to the different structures in which they operate.
The aim is, in particular, to designing training activities appropriate to the level of activities that volunteers and /or operators place in trade associations.
SoliS is engaged in China with projects in collaboration with some of the most qualified Italian and foreign NGOs, with the specific aim of contributing to the reduction of mental illness and the development of new methods of intervention.
In particular, SoliS is engaged in China in realization of: training programs for operators in the healthcare and socio-educational sector, and for the families of the users; to raise awareness among local populations; actions to reduce the stigma against mental illness.
SoliS opened in 2009 the first Residential Open Unit (ROU) in China, “Villa Rosa” (“Rose Villa”), in the district of Haidian, providing a total management of rehabilitation of mental illness, including also severe and long-lasting disorders. Villa Rosa headquarters have been transferred to Yanqing district, Beijing city, in 2012.
